QUARTZ WATCHES

QUARTZ WATCHES

A quartz watch is powered by a battery and uses an electric signal to move the hands. This electric signal occurs every second and is created by the vibration of a quartz crystal oscillator which is controlled by an integrated circuit. This works at an accuracy of +/- 15 seconds per month.

In Seiko watches, it is always recommended to use only genuine Seiko batteries as it  maintains very stable voltage and performance even in extreme temperatures (-10C to +60C). Seiko battery has an excellent leakage resistance and available for long-term storage.

Quartz watches need periodic battery replacement. Battery life ranges from 2 to 4 years depending on the combination of the quartz movement and the batteries installed. The battery in your watch at the time of purchase is pre-installed at the factory and it is for monitoring the functions and performance. So, it is possible that this 'factory fitted battery' not last the prescribed number of years.

If you leave a battery in your watch for a long time after it expires, the contents of your battery may leak and damage your watch. Please replace the battery promptly at an Authorized Seiko Service Centre as many precautions are to be taken as the watch needs to be opened for replacing the battery.

While replacing the battery or repairing the watch, a Seiko ASC ensures that the gaskets are replaced, this is a very important component that protects the watch from water penetration, and put the watch to a water proofing test.

An overhaul of the watch once in 3 years by a skilled technician, applying necessary lubrication and cleaning of internal parts, is highly recommended to extend the life and functioning of your watch.
